Hello Everyone,

Exciting news.  Little Miss Naylani, my newest niece blessed us with her presence tonight.  She decided that today may be the day around 5:00 this morning.  It took her to 9:18 this evening to follow through.  This picture was taken by her proud daddy, and Auntie Sharon just brought the focus to her with some Photoshop magic.  Both Mom (Noelle), Dad (Sway) and baby are doing great.  Leonyae, Adiel, Adyn and Eliyana are also very anxious to see their new little sister.

I love her little expression.  I can just imagine her saying, "you made me come out for what?"

Get ready, you will probably see a few more pictures of this little cutie in the future.

 Hello,

I selected today's image because blue and red make purple.  lol   Here is yet another image featuring crystals.  I love how the red and blue glass bowls make purple reflections.

Hello Everyone,

Today was the beginning of our dance competition season.  Though it was a very long day it was very rewarding and productive.  Needless to say, Saturday's will most likely be a time when I post a picture that I have taken previously.

I am so excited to post a picture of this little squirrel.  I have wanted to find a way to use it for a long time now.  Those that know me know how I feel about squirrels in general.  I think that they are cute, but they have been so destructive in the studio that well...how do I put this....I am feeling some kind of way about the entire species.  That being said, this little guy showed up on my back porch crying and shaking.  I got some warm bedding, and a cup full of cat food and that squirrel became my friend.  He was only there one day but he let me get some good pictures.  Here's to little friends that pass through our lives briefly and leave and undeniable paw print on your heart.  :)

Hello,

This is what happens when you are finished with your semester and you are totally exhausted.  :)  Feeling bored and restless, I searched the house for something to shoot. This is one of my niece's old toys.    I turned the toy on, and turned the lights off.  Thank you Leonyae for sharing your toy in my "Operation 35".

Hello,

This image is a celebration of the successful completion of my "Printing Class".  It was a pretty tough class and the amount of work required was a little out of control, but....I got through and passed with flying colors.  This is the last image of my final project.

Hi,

Here is another image from my printing class.  I was really happy with the way they turned out.  I had mentioned that we were to apply creative edits to some of the images.  Here is one of those edits.  I wanted to create a soft, calm, even toned (monochromatic) image.  This was a small glass, an LED light, and a place mat.

Howdy Everyone,

Today's image is one that I took for my Printing class.  The assignment requirements included creative but realistic editing.  I thought, cool, I love creative editing.  I chose crystals as my theme and started shooting away.  The assignment took a crazy long time which is why this post is a bit late. This image contains a few crystal stones, a glass dish and a glass tray. This is the original image before edits.

Hi,

Yesterday I posted a picture representing our most recent snow storm.  Today, I wanted to post an image of our last storm that just so happened to be in October.  I chose this image because it's odd and yet beautiful.  The bright colors of the leaves with little ice pellets and snow shows great  contrast.

Well,

The snow came and it was more than 1-2 inches.  Oh well, I will try to improve my predictions for the next time.  In honor of our first snow of the year, the image I chose was of a cute little pine tree.  I added a bit of a blue tint to help you feel the coldness I experienced while taking the picture.  lol

As I stand on my porch and prepare myself for the epic storm that is approaching, I gaze to the sky and pray for strength. lol  Okay, the newscasters say 3-6 inches, my prediction is 1-2.  I could be wrong, but I will remain optimistic.  It is hard to face all of the hard-core students who will offer to pick up their classmates in their 4-wheel drive vehicles and bring them to class, those that offer to come and shovel the parking lot, those who simply whimper as I tell them the dance studio must close today.  lol

All joking aside, I love my students and their dedication.  I hate to close the school for snow, but sometimes it is necessary.  Here is to praying the snow stays away or at least, doesn't get too messy.

This image is a view from my porch.  Living in the city, I miss gazing up and seeing clear skies.  This is one place where I still can.

I have found that I love clear, crystal things.  I like purity and water.  You will probably get a chance to see what I am talking about as I continue to post images that strike my fancy throughout the year.
As I was sitting in my room, my eyes were drawn to a beautiful water fixture that unfortunately has never worked.  I was unable to throw it away though because even without the water it is beautiful.

What to do when you are bored, or....when you have an assignment due and you can't figure out what to shoot?  Just put a cat in a bucket.  lol   This is "Pebbles".  She was not very happy about being put in a bucket, but, decided it was ok as long as I kept feeding her "Greenies".  It's amazing what my cats will do for "Greenies".  I actually put two of my three cats in the bucket, but "Lyric", the oldest, decided that she would sit in the bucket, but not necessarily still.  Consequently, I have a lot of fuzzy pictures of a gray cat inside a green bucket.

It is mid January and I am still finding bits and pieces of Christmas everywhere.  Before I packed away the last (at least I hope it's the last) bit of Christmas, I decided to shoot it for today's picture.  These peppermint candles are really cute, but made me a little sad as I expected them to smell like peppermint.  Nope, just smells like wax.  Oh well, they are still cute little candles.  They almost look good enough to eat!

Love is in the air!!!!!  Less than a month before Valentine's day and I am finding all kinds of things that remind me of that day.  Today, I found these two love birds, showing their affection towards one another, right out there in public.  lol
All kidding aside, this statue was in front of the same store that sported that beautiful fence that I posted the other day.

Hello,

Get ready everyone, you are about to learn that I am a flower fanatic.  I love, love, love flowers.  I will be posting tons of flower pictures throughout the year.  My first is a black and white image.  I took this in my digital management class and then we had to make it black and white.  At first I wasn't so sure about that, I mean, flowers are meant to be colorful right?  Well, after the conversion, I was sold.  Without the color, we are forced to look at the other beautiful elements of the flower.  Don't worry though, color flowers will be coming very soon.  :)

"Transparency"
I call this image "Transparency" because we are forced to see past or through  the color into the true beauty of this flower.

Hi,

While I was walking in downtown Harrisburg yesterday, I came across this wonderful fence.  I shot it in hopes that I could use it in my assignment yesterday and I was really pleased with how it came out.  While exploring my options on what type of photography to pursue, I realized that I enjoy many types of photography.  I am really drawn to fine art because I love capturing the tiny details in every day things.  I have decided to continue shooting what strikes my fancy and see where it leads me.

Hi,

One thing that I learned today is that it is important to know which email address you used when you set up your blog.  Got it all figured out now, so I will catch up my post.  I will post continue to get caught up after I get my homework done if my eyes are still open.  If not, look for two posts tomorrow.

The picture today was taken in October.  I was driving along, minding my own business, when out of the corner of my eye I saw this pathway.  Being the photographer that I am, I immediately stopped, backed up, and took a closer look.   Thank God, there was no one behind me. (that would have been bad)  I pulled over and took the shot.

I call this "Hidden Passage" because it was hidden in between rows and rows of trees and land.  I am not even sure why it caught my eye.  I just know that when I got out to investigate, it took my breath away.  Hope you enjoy!

Hi Everyone,

I want to start by saying that I have to revamp this blog.  My original goal was to shoot one image a day for a year.  I have found that I have not always been able to do that because of my insane schedule.  So.....I will shoot as much as possible, but on the days that I am unable to shoot, I will post an image that I have taken previously.  This will still allow me to share one of my passions (photography), and still commit to blogging every day.

Today's image is inspired by the Farm Show that happens to be going on this week in Harrisburg, Pa.  Though I have been to the Farm show many times, I am unable to attend this year.  This is a shot of a very photogenic cow that I shot for my digital management class in September of 2010.  The cow is a proud member of "Brubaker Farms" in Lancaster, Pa.   This cow was clearly more interested in sniffing my camera than posing for a picture.

Hello there,

There is something very cool about brick and ivy.  Today's picture displays just that.  I love the contrast between the delicate ivy leaves and the brick wall.  There is not much of a story behind this image, I just really like it.  I hope you do too.

Hi Everyone,

Better Late then never, right?  This is a picture of one of my most favorite places in the world.  It's all about perspective, really.  You would never believe that this place exists right here in Harrisburg, Pa.  This is a little park on the Appalachian Trail.  I actually walked out on the rocks, and shot at a low angle to get this shot.

I often go there when I feel like things are spiraling out of control.  It is so peaceful and as I am naturally drawn to water, it soothes my spirit and replenishes my reserve.  So, here is a little piece of heaven that I would like to share with you.

Hi everyone,

Today's pic is a glass vase with diffuse reefs.  I put this on my mantle for Christmas and it smells just like a Christmas tree.  This is a nice way to remember good times long after you take your decorations down.

     Hi Everyone,
Today's picture is of a bunch of red canoes.  Now, I know you are probably thinking, why is she taking pictures of a bunch of red canoes.  My answer would be, because they looked cool.  hehe  I can't seem to help myself.  If I am driving along and something strikes my fancy (especially if bright colors are involved), I stop and shoot.  I don't know what is happening to me.  But....I hope it never stops.

Hello Everyone,

I must say that I have to cheat a little today.  It is 5:30am and I am just finishing up my homework.  So, I decided to post this image that I took about a year ago.  I got this shot while standing on City Island in Harrisburg, Pa.  I remember it was so cold, unlike today.  I had always wanted to work on my night shots, and this was a great opportunity to do so.

Hello Everyone,

Today I shot this pic of a beautiful vase that lives in my kitchen.  In the spring I love to put pretty pink flowers in it, but in the winter, it usually sits empty.  Since it is one of my favorite vases, I thought I would share it with you.  I used a small lamp to shine through the glass.  I love the warmth that it gives this pretty little vase.  I will try to remember to post another pic of this vase in the spring when it reunites with it's pink flowers.

Today, I want to introduce you to Eliza.  She is one,  in a long list of dance students who eagerly step in to help me with my homework assignments.  This was one image that I did not submit for tonight's assignment, so I was able to post it here for you to enjoy.  Eliza is a spunky eight year old that I would describe as an angel with an attitude.  This young lady is so sweet and sensitive, the essence of a classical young lady, and in the next instance she will rock a hip hop dance like nobody's business.  I hope she continues to allow me to capture her wonderful personality.  Thank you Eliza for sharing your joy!!!!!!

Hello Everyone,

I am not really sure what drew me to this door for today's image.  I just know that as I walked down the hall, I noticed this beautiful light coming from one of the rooms.  It was kind of pink and soft and the only thing I could think of was that I needed to capture that light.  The image does not do that special moment justice, but it gives you an idea of what I was witnessing.

In other news of the day, it is cold, cold, cold, cold. All of those that know me, know that I am not very fond of the cold. Even though I don't like to wear coats, I do love wearing the fun hats, scarves and gloves that I have received as gifts throughout the years.

Janurary 3, 2012

Here we are at day 3 already.  It is hard to believe.  Yesterday, I went outside in a thin hoodie and today, I could have used a wool coat.  Wow, what a difference a day makes.
Today's pic is a "Guess What It Is" photo.  Don't be shy, guess away! I will reveal what it is in a few days.

It is the second day of January.  Had a great day.  Got a lot of work done, had a great day at dance, connected with a great friend and finished my homework by the 5:00am deadline.  The image I selected again came from my neighbor's yard.  This was a blue, sparkly, curly cue thing that has been begging me to take it's picture for most of December.  I finally did it and I am really glad that I did.
